Walkers:
If a child is designated as a walker, he/she will be dismissed as follows:
- All walkers will be walked to Thompson Rd. sidewalk by HES staff members. Parents may not walk up to the building or parking lot with a car sign to pick up students. You may meet them on the other side of the crosswalk.
- The crossing guard will guide students across the street.
- For safety, walkers will be dismissed prior to car riders. Students usually walk in groups together to our community neighborhoods.
Car Riders:
To ensure the safety of all students, we will not release students to cars/individuals without a car sign. If you do not have your car sign, you will need to park and go into the office. You will need to present your ID to our office staff and be listed on the contact list for the child. All car rider parents must remain in your vehicle and follow the traffic flow.
- Car signs should be visible (on the dash or hanging from the mirror)
- Once your child is loaded, please remove the car sign. This helps our staff with the traffic flow by identifying if your child is loaded in the car.
- Please do not cross lanes or drive around cars. We want to ensure safety for students and staff.
- Please remain in your car and notify a staff member if your child needs to enter your car on the opposite side of loading.
- Practice with your child to buckle with the seat belt or car seat. This will help keep the traffic moving.
- If you walk to HES to pick up your child, you may designate him/her to be a walker and meet them on the other side of the crosswalk. You may not walk up to the door with a car sign to pick up students.
- Once the dismissal line has cleared (about 3:40), any remaining students will go to the office. Students will need to be checked out from the main office with the car sign or ID and signature. You must be on the contact list to pick up a child.
If your child needs to leave school early, they must be checked out through the front office prior to 2:30 p.m. This allows us to protect instructional time and prepare for a safe and orderly dismissal. Call the office at 817-744-4900 to let them know your child's first and last name, ID#, reason for early dismissal, and the pick up time.
